An Attitude of Gratitude

This year for Kate’s 4th birthday, she got a Mini Ipad from her friends, and she raised over $300 for the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH)!

Kate chose to get an Ipad because she loves to download apps and play games like “Strawberry Shortcake” and “Littlest Pet Shop”. She chose to support the MCH – from ECHOage’s list of over 250 charities – because her grandmother worked there for many years. During that time, Kate saw for herself how much the Children’s helps young boys and girls who are sick, and have to stay in the hospital.

Kate, you are an ECHOage Hero – you have made a big difference in the lives of children in Montreal who are in the hospital, and you have inspired many other children to follow in your footsteps. Happy Birthday to you, amazing girl!

Eden’s 7th Birthday – Helping to Cure Leukemia and Lymphoma

Eden’s 7th birthday is one she will always remember. Never did she think that beyond receiving her much anticipated gift (a Barbie Mermaid Princess!), that she would also be helping people affected with blood cancers.

Mom Dana, however, knew that bringing charitable giving into the mix would make Eden’s birthday even more special. “Being able to share her birthday gift with a charity helped to teach Eden about the importance of giving back.”

Eden chose to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) in honour of her grandmother, a lymphoma survivor.  Eden states “Her cancer is better now, but when I saw the LLSC featured on ECHOage list of charities, I knew that was the charity that I wanted to raise money for!”

“Dolls, dolls and more dolls” was the theme of this little girl’s dream birthday. She had a blast making doll clothes with her friends, whacking a piñata and throwing a pie in her brother’s face.

But while the birthday celebrations may be over, Eden’s gift continues to make a difference in the lives of many Canadians living with a blood cancer.

Hurray to this little hero, her support is part of the cure!

Why LLSC?

With blood cancer being the # 1 cancer in kids under age of 14 and with over 100,000 Canadians living with or in remission from a blood cancer; NOW is the time to recognize that Someday is Today. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is dedicated to finding a cure for blood cancers and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. The LLSC provides much needed funding to researchers, patient support and public education.

By supporting the LLSC at your next ECHOage party, your remarkable gesture will bring hope to thousands of families across Canada living with a blood cancer.

Yonatan’s ECHOage Birthday

For Yonatan’s 6th birthday, he chose to do something truly amazing! Just by having an ECHOage birthday party, he raised funds for Mazon Canada – providing much needed food to hungry children and adults – and he got Lego and an Angry Birds game. Yonatan and his friends understood the necessity of helping families who don’t have enough to eat, and they were excited to help Yonatan buy some awesome birthday presents for himself, too. Parents welcomed the opportunity to discuss the idea of giving with their children, explaining that by contributing online using ECHOage, Yonatan would get funds to buy his chosen gifts, and families in need would be provided with food. A win, win!

Yonatan’s Mom was thrilled: “Doing something good for the community, as well as having fun, created the ultimate feel good party, and the lack of excess and useless junk made the whole family feel great. Also, teaching the children the value of giving left everybody with a great sense of pride.”

Yonatan, your act of giving is like an echo. It will inspire other children to follow in your footsteps, and your impact is everlasting.

Congratulations Yonatan, and a heartfelt Happy Birthday from the entire ECHOage.com Team!
You are our hero today!

One family, 6 ECHOage parties, and close to $700 raised for charity.

That’s what this incredible family has accomplished using ECHOage! Wendy Labelle and her children, Ella and Griffin, have become our Quebec ECHOage heroes; they are committed to making the world a better place, one celebration at a time.  Read the testimonials from this generous, inspiring family!

“We LOVE ECHOage! We were first introduced to the idea by neighbors who were hosting an ECHOage birthday party. My daughter, Ella, thought it was a very interesting concept and decided on her own that she wanted to do the same!  It didn’t take too much convincing to get my son, Griffin, on board as well.”

“They have always been big-hearted and charitable – donating clothes, toys and food quite willingly. As a matter of fact, they look forward to their ECHOage parties every year and tell me way in advance which charities they want to help.  My daughter and son both like to donate to The Montreal Children’s Hospital, not only because I worked there for several years, but also because Ella had surgery there.”

“We have had nothing but positive feedback from our invitees, and the online invitations and thank you notes are convenient and easy to use. My kids like the concept because, not only do they get to help a charity, but the money they receive gives them the freedom to choose their own gifts, or save it for a rainy day.  They proudly tell friends and family that they have raised money for their charity of choice.  We will definitely continue using ECHOage for many celebrations to come…”

ECHOage heads to the Big Apple!

Stina Hamlin, a local NYC mom of a 6yr old girl and 2yr old boy, is heading up the New York office.  A career television producer and long-time user of ECHOage, Stina approached co-founders, Debbie Zinman and Alison Smith, to head up a U.S. branch in New York City.   The result is an exciting collaboration that brings ECHOage’s joy of giving AND celebrating to America!  Stina’s experience in marketing, creative content production, and her status as one of the early adopters of ECHOage in Los Angeles, and now New York City, adds her expertise and enthusiasm to the ECHOage team.  “I am ecstatic about being a part of a company and philosophy in which I truly believe.  I have used ECHOage for my children’s parties for 6 years and have raised almost $2000 for charities they chose teaching them valuable life lessons while having fun.  I am looking forward to expanding the ECHOage mission in the U.S. and NYC!” says Stina Hamlin of ECHOage NY.

Noah is smiling – he turned 7 at his birthday, got a Kindle, and Smile Train got $250!

Noah turned 7!

Noah lives in Boise, Idaho.  This year he wanted his birthday party to be much more than a fabulous celebration. Noah chose to give half of the funds raised at his party to Smile Train, a charity that provides free cleft surgery to hundreds of thousands of children in developing countries.  Some kids cannot eat, or speak properly.  Some kids face very difficult lives filled with shame, isolation, pain and heartache.  The good news is every single child with a cleft can be helped with surgery that costs as little as $250. Seven year old Noah has now changed the life of a little child needing cleft surgery.

Not a surprise, Noah’s parents are extremely proud of him.  He bought a Kindle for his birthday present, so he can read even more, and he made it possible for a child to smile again. Noah, there are many others who are very proud of you today.  Everyone at ECHOage is smiling for you, too.

For his 1st birthday, Dominic put money toward his Registered Education Savings Plan (yup, you read that correctly) and Plan Canada got $55.

This young boy is going places!

Dominic turns ONE!

Dominic turns ONE!

Looks like the world can learn a thing or two from Dominic.

Saving for an education and helping other kids in need, all before he can say the words Happy Birthday.

Dominic’s Mom shares why she chose to ECHOage Dominic’s first birthday.

“We decided to use ECHOage so we could make this big event more meaningful. Instead of Dominic getting more toys he doesn’t need, we could put the funds toward starting his RESP.”

“We chose Plan Canada because we sponsor two children already with them and know that a small Screen Shot 2012-12-06 at 8.50.51 AMamount can make a big difference to children they support in less fortunate areas of the world”.

We can only imagine what you will do for your 2nd birthday, Dominic.

Happy, happy birthday sweet, little boy!

For Yo Yo’s 5th Birthday he got MC Hammer Pants, A San Francisco Giants T-Shirt, LEGO and Books for Africa got $300.

Yo Yo’s Hip Hop Hippity Hop 5th birthday was a blast.  A party in the park in support of Books for Africa for this inspiring young little boy.

Happy 5th Birthday to you Yo Yo!

When asked why he chose to support Books for Africa he said,

“ I liked donating to Books for Africa because there are kids who don’t have any books and it made me happy to help kids, like me, get new books.”

Yo Yo’s birthday gift is helping to end the book famine in Africa.

At age 5 (that’s right, age 5), Yo Yo is spreading importance of literacy.

Because of you Yo Yo, there is a sweet young boy who will be getting the gift of books all because you chose to make a difference at your ECHOage birthday party.

We hope you are dancing around in your MC Hammer pants right now, feeling proud to be a young leader (and reader).

A Hip Hop Happity Birthday to you Yo Yo.

For Maya’s 6th birthday party she got an X-Box and WWF got $307!

Inspiration can strike at any time. For this six year old, it was a recent trip to Australia that had Maya talking about native animals and how she can help.

“I love animals and I rally want to help them, to make sure they are ok an safe. I really love my dog and cat at home and I also love rabbits, kangaroos and wombats!”

It was a natural fit for Maya to choose WWF.

We are so pleased that this birthday party is helping to support WWF’s mission: to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

Quite an impressive achievement for this very special six year old.

Happy Birthday and happy X-Box playing to you, Maya!
