This girl made turning 10 extra special, and she did it so easily with ECHOage. At 10 years old, Amanda loves to sew and make jewellery. It is her hobby and she really enjoys making things for other people. She chose sewing and jewellery supplies for her birthday because she will need more supplies in order to make more fabulous designs. But that is not all…Amanda chose to support the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada because her grandmother has had Crohn’s since she was a little girl. In Amanda’s words: “I want to make sure that anyone else who has Crohn’s gets good treatment like my grandmother has.” Happy Birthday special girl! You have made our day, and you will certainly inspire many other children to follow in your footsteps. Thank you, Amanda!

He chose to support Rethink Breast Cancer at his recent ECHOage birthday party because he wants his grandmothers to be healthy and enjoy their lives. One of Jamie’s grandmother’s died of breast cancer before he was born. Jamie chose to honor her memory at his party.
He also got to choose his birthday gifts – he got Wii games and a new baseball mitt. Jamie said he liked this more than getting lots of different birthday presents because he could choose his own games and the style of baseball mitt. When asked about the best part of his birthday, Jamie said: “The best part of my birthday was playing with my friends and having fun together!” Happy Birthday, Jamie! Our hats are off to you.

His gift was Skylanders Giants and Zach says he loves playing with them: “They just came out with some amazing new characters.” His charity was Jacob’s Ladder – an organization founded on the love parents feel for their children. We asked Zach how he felt about his amazing contribution: “I love to help other kids and like to give to children that need things. I go to the same camp as Jacob, from Jacob’s Ladder, and I wanted to help his charity.” Even more special, Zach said that the best part of his birthday party was being with his friends. Seven year old Riley did something really amazing. She turned her party into an opportunity to honor the memory of her late uncle, Chucky Weiner, her Mom’s brother who was treated at The Montreal Children’s Hospital many years ago. Riley had a mission: “I want to help kids that are sick to feel better.” And when asked of her motivation: “My Mommy’s brother went there when he was a kid.” At only 7 years old, Riley has patience too. She got an iPod Touch which she had wanted for a year and a half. In Riley’s words: “It’s cool because you can load up games, and text, and FaceTime people.” Riley, thank you for what you have done. We hope your amazing contribution will echo around the world. Happy Birthday special girl! Love, ECHOage.

Kira chose to support Cancer Free Kids because she is part of the Kindness and Caring Club at her school and she is always looking for new ways to help others. Cancer Free Kids is working everyday to eradicate cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded.
Kira chose her birthday gifts – Best Buy gift cards – because she really loves playing on her iTouch and her Nintendo DS, and now she can get more games.
Kira’s mom Ali had this to share about her special daughter:
“Kira has a heart for children who are ill and she wanted to help in any way she could. I love ECHOage because it is an excellent opportunity to open a child’s eyes to the bigger world. It helps them understand that there are people that need our help and this reiterates to her how blessed she is. My daughter really wants to help others in need, and this was another great opportunity to share her love for people!”
Happy Birthday Kira from everyone at ECHOage who is watching you lead the way.
For Abbey’s 6th birthday, she got Monster High toys and Critter Camp got $220!

Her loving mother Michele said it best…So we have to quote her:
“Abbey was so happy to have an ECHOage party. When her dad and I told her about it she gave us a great big YES. Abbey is huge animal lover and picked her charity very easily. She was excited to help Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary. Every time I told her someone had just RSVP’d to her party, her arms went up in the air and she yelled, “Yeah, I saved an animal.” We are so proud of her as are her friends and family. We hope this wonderful idea spreads to some of her party guests. Her sister Emily’s party coming up this month is also an ECHOage party. What a wonderful concept.”
Thank you Michele. And Thank You Abbey. Many animals, many kids, your friends, your guests and every body at ECHOage thanks you for the wonderful thing you have done.
Jack’s 9th Birthday: He gets an Ipod Touch and Grassroot Soccer gets $157.00

In Jack’s words:
“I wanted to support Grassroot Soccer because I love soccer! I wanted an iPod touch because I always wanted an iPod SO BAD, so I could get lots of apps, and play all my favorite songs.”
In Elizabeth’s words (wonderful mom to Jack):
“I was so proud that Jack jumped right on the idea of raising money with his birthday party. He was excited to talk to his friends about giving donations and how half the money would help him get an iPod – which he had been begging us for – and the other half would go to help an organization that taught important lessons around the world through soccer. Jack has been playing soccer for practically his entire life, his dad is a coach, and this year he plays on a travel team. He was thrilled to see a charity that involved soccer on the list and I was happy to have the chance to discuss HIV/AIDS with him. I think it’s amazing how much money he raised with his birthday party. It’s also a wonderful side benefit to not have a bunch of extra toys we didn’t really need crowding the house.”
Happy 9th Birthday Jack! And thank you, Elizabeth. Many others will be following in your footsteps.
Friends help friends through a birthday party. Autism Speaks got $265. Paloma and Ariana got a new Swing Set!

Just ask these twins, Paloma and Ariana, and their wonderful mom, Tara. They have a friend, a boy, with moderate to severe Autism. He has been receiving therapy and support and has made so much progress. “He is such an amazing, happy, sweet child.” says Tara. “We wanted to give back in any way we could and hoped that other children with Autism will receive the help and support our friend did. So we chose Autism Speaks Canada.” Tara also felt a swing set would be a great gift for her girls: “We thought it would be the perfect gift since it will last for many years and also be used by the friends who helped our girls get it for their birthday,” added Tara. We usually congratulate children on our blog, and their incredible impact, but today we thank you, Tara. Your words are ever lasting.
