For Maya’s 6th birthday party she got an X-Box and WWF got $307!

Inspiration can strike at any time. For this six year old, it was a recent trip to Australia that had Maya talking about native animals and how she can help.

“I love animals and I rally want to help them, to make sure they are ok an safe. I really love my dog and cat at home and I also love rabbits, kangaroos and wombats!”

It was a natural fit for Maya to choose WWF.

We are so pleased that this birthday party is helping to support WWF’s mission: to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

Quite an impressive achievement for this very special six year old.

Happy Birthday and happy X-Box playing to you, Maya!

Jack’s 9th Birthday: He gets an Ipod Touch and Grassroot Soccer gets $157.00

In Jack’s words:

“I wanted to support Grassroot Soccer because I love soccer! I wanted an iPod touch because I always wanted an iPod SO BAD, so I could get lots of apps, and play all my favorite songs.”

In Elizabeth’s words (wonderful mom to Jack):

“I was so proud that Jack jumped right on the idea of raising money with his birthday party. He was excited to talk to his friends about giving donations and how half the money would help him get an iPod – which he had been begging us for – and the other half would go to help an organization that taught important lessons around the world through soccer. Jack has been playing soccer for practically his entire life, his dad is a coach, and this year he plays on a travel team. He was thrilled to see a charity that involved soccer on the list and I was happy to have the chance to discuss HIV/AIDS with him. I think it’s amazing how much money he raised with his birthday party. It’s also a wonderful side benefit to not have a bunch of extra toys we didn’t really need crowding the house.”

Happy 9th Birthday Jack! And thank you, Elizabeth.  Many others will be following in your footsteps.

Friends help friends through a birthday party. Autism Speaks got $265. Paloma and Ariana got a new Swing Set!

Paloma and Ariana

It is easy to help a friend in need, even when you are only 3! Just ask these twins, Paloma and Ariana, and their wonderful mom, Tara.  They have a friend, a boy, with moderate to severe Autism.  He has been receiving therapy and support and has made so much progress. “He is such an amazing, happy, sweet child.” says Tara. “We wanted to give back in any way we could and hoped that other children with Autism will receive the help and support our friend did. So we chose Autism Speaks Canada.”  Tara also felt a swing set would be a great gift for her girls: “We thought it would be the perfect gift since it will last for many years and also be used by the friends who helped our girls get it for their birthday,” added Tara.  We usually congratulate children on our blog, and their incredible impact, but today we thank you, Tara.  Your words are ever lasting.

For Saahil’s 2nd birthday he fed hungry children and got a backyard play space to call his own.

Saahil’s parents wanted to give their two year old son the biggest gift of all – the opportunity to experience how good it feels to help others.

A breakfast volunteer from Eel Ground First Nation School shares a bit about Canadian Feed the Children and how Saahil and others like him are making such a big difference.

“The breakfast program has made a huge impact on our school and community. I cannot imagine working with these children every day without the breakfast program to help them through the day. Now, the children not only look forward to attending school but are much better prepared physically and mentally to challenge the rigors of the school day. Thank you once again for your invaluable contribution to our children’s future.”

There was not shortage of outdoor fun and friendship at this birthday party.  Saahil, we thank you and your family for sharing your birthday celebration with us and for inspiring other little people to get the gift of their dreams while helping a charity in need.

Happy 2nd birthday Saahil.  We are so proud of you!

Hockey for Heart. For Ryan’s 7th Birthday, He Got Skylanders and Lego Ninjago and CARE Scored $390.

For Ryan’s birthday party he chose to support the charity CARE. Ryan’s Mom said, “After viewing CARE’s commercial, Ryan was moved to action when he saw how one hand can help another.”

Great things certainly can happen when we lend a hand and Ryan’s All-Star line up of birthday buddies helped CARE achieve their goals or defending dignity and fighting poverty.  Way to go Ryan.

Thanks Ryan for being such a great team player and for lending your hand to this very meaningful charity.  We hope that you have tons of fun playing and inventing with your Skylanders and Lego Ninjago.

Happy 7th Birthday Ryan.

A Brand New E-Reader and $375 for Action Against Hunger for Finn’s 6th Birthday Bonanza.

Finn got an E-Reader and Action Against Hunger got $375

Finn and his friends had extreme fun at an indoor sports playground to usher in his 6th birthday party.

Finn chose to support Action Against Hunger because he “wanted to help people who didn’t have any food so they wouldn’t go hungry.”

Action Against Hunger’s vision is of a world without hunger. A world in which all children and adults have sufficient food and water, equitable access to the resources that sustain life, and are able to attain these with dignity.

Seems like at the young age of six, Finn is all about taking action! We are very proud of you Finn for turning your celebration into a birthday party that will keep on giving for years to come.

We would love to hear what is on your e-reading list this year. In fact, we would love for you to be our first ever kids book reviewer.   Share any e-book review you like with us simply by clicking on the comment box and we will share your thoughts with other young, generous readers and leaders.

Happy 6th Birthday Finn!

For Shoshana’s 7th Beading Birthday Party, She Got Arts and Crafts and Children’s Peace Theatre Got $321!

Kids were invited to create a beading masterpiece at Shoshana’s beading birthday party.   We love seeing creativity in action.

Shoshana chose to support Children’s Peace Theatre because, “I looked through all of the different charities and it just seemed like the best fit.  I think Peace is great.  To me, peace means being kind to each other and caring for one another.”  We are so proud of you Shoshona for being a leader at such a young age.

The mission of Children’s Peace Theatre is to create a culture of peace by engaging children and youth in the practice of theatre and art.   By working and playing together in creating theatre, kids learn to transform conflict with creativity, courage, and compassion.

A standing ovation for you Shoshana for helping to bring peace and play and creativity to the lives of young children.  Bravo!

For Abby’s 8th Birthday, Because I Am A Girl got $110 and She Got a Bounty of New Books.

We love to hear about new birthday party themes.  And Abby’s certainly takes the cake.  Butterflies were the main event at this party. They played butterfly games – wrapping girls up in paper cocoons having them race to emerge as butterflies, they ate butterfly cookies and even had a butterfly scavenger hunt. Creativity at its finest.

Making a difference at age 8!

8 year old Abby said, “I chose to support Because I Am A Girl because I think girls should have the same rights as boys all over the world, and not just in certain places.”  Abby, we couldn’t agree any more.  And we are thrilled that you chose to share your thoughts about this with friends and family on your special day.

Abby loves to read.  Anything and everything! With her funds raised at her birthday party, Abby is going to buy a whole new bounty of books. We can’t think of a better gift for this beautiful butterfly.

Did you know October 11th is International Day of the Child Girl?  It only takes ONE girl to change the word. Thank you Abby for making a difference at such a young age.

Brilliant Birthday Boy – A Lego Hogwarts Castle for Ethan, and $165.00 for Make-A-Wish.

Happy Birthday Ethan!

Nothing beats feeling proud of yourself, especially for children.  Ethan turned 6 and made sure that other children would benefit from his birthday. He spent a long time looking through the list of 120 charities and schools on the ECHOage site, and insisted on Make-A-Wish Foundation. His mom told us that: “Ethan feels badly that some kids are so busy going to doctors appointments,” and he wanted to raise funds to buy something for them to play with while in hospital. Ethan’s contribution will help buy fantastic toys for children in hospitals. Ethan LOVES Harry Potter, and he has wanted the big Lego Hogwarts Castle for some time.  What an amazing boy you are Ethan!  Turning 6, celebrating, giving, and doing what you love.  Everyone at ECHOage is smiling today because of you.

An IPod, A Pottery Party and a Trip That Sparked an Act of Kindness. Now That’s a Birthday Party!

Isabelle is making much more then pottery at her 10th birthday party.  She is shaping the lives of many children in need by contributing to Make-A-Wish.

“I saw some kids while on vacation in Florida who were there with Make-A-Wish.  I saw how sick the little girl was and really wanted to somehow help her and the other kids like her.”

Two wishes came true at this birthday party:

Isabelle got an IPod and Make-A-Wish got $170.

This is Isabelle’s 4th ECHOage party!  Yup. That’s right.  Four years of making a difference and getting the gift of her dreams.

Her younger sister Nadia is even following in her footsteps at age 6 with an ECHOage birthday party of her own.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store for your 11th birthday party Isabelle.  Dream big!
